Times
are becoming tough for many people all over the world. While
this site mainly caters for "what-you-wear", it has become necessary
to acknowledge the need for food and anything-you-may-have to help
anyone negatively affected by the Corona virus, Covid-19.
go to charities that can benefit
We
trust "wardrobe-plaming" will remain important but
this necessary, but
now somewhat
'boring', subject still comes to mind
and If you browse
this website.
Whether it is “a new year”, “the first day of a
new month", or: "the first day of the rest of your life", it is
often time for a new wardrobe!
You will find many tips on "how to ...".
If
you’d like the personal touch, we are always here to help (contact
us). BUT
… should you find yourself in a cramped, cooped up position,
with just 'too much' in your wardrobe and nothing to
wear, we have a liberating new answer! We asked Mr Rademan to simplify your “whereto-now?”
days. His suggestion was simply: “Make them “give-away” days!”

Wardrobe
planning done the "Giveaway" way!
-
I have often said: start
simplifying your wardrobe by separating what you still wear,
from what you do not wear.
-
I often advise on how the
items you do not wear, can be made new and worn again!
-
But,… I never advise on how
to throw away. Well, today I will...
In the exciting spirit of
“giving away” in stead of “throwing away”, I have asked some
extraordinary people whom I trust and who I look up to, to share
valuable information on who they give to… when they give away…

Puppy Haven
|
|
Your career:
Actress
Favourite
charity’s name?:
Puppy Haven
What do they
do?
They rescue
sick, abandoned and abused animals and sterilize animals in
township etc. to avoid more unwanted animals.
What do they
need?
Old clothes
for men, women and children that can be used to help in their
rescue effort. They build relationships in the townships with
these goods. The people are more likely to either surrender
unwanted animals or allow the animals to be sterilized when they
like and trust them.
Why is this
your charity?
I
have a passion for animals and Puppy Haven is doing a great job
of helping animals that are in distress and educating
communities about animal welfare, while providing goods to the
people as well. Puppy Haven also have a no euthanasia policy
unlike other animal shelters.

MES |
|
Career:
Editor rooi rose
magazine
Favourite charity’s name?:
A non-profit
organisation called Metro Evangelical Services/ Middestad
Evangelisasie also known as MES
What do they do?
They work with each
and everyone in the Inner City of Johannesburg who needs help in
any way: offering physical, psychological and spiritual relief
to those who are living on the edges of society, the
down-and-outs, street children and any lost souls in need of
succour. Their approach is holistic and they have been around
since 1986. They really get involved in people's lives, nothing
is too hard, too dangerous or too dirty. They exclude no-one and
they rally up support from everyone. They have amazing stories
to tell.
What do they need?
They need
everything, and everything is directed to the people in
need. Nothing goes to waste. They are extremely well organised.
Why
is this your charity?
I admire them for
the passion with which they apply themselves, the selfless
action that they have been expending for so many years, and that
they have never lost their drive or their focus. Furthermore,
there are no big overheads, no impressive offices, no rich
officials, just real people with a real concern for humanity and
the will to restore dignity to people who have lost the will to
try. By supporting them I know that my contribution goes
directly to those that most need it, and that there is no-one
who needs it more than the people they work with.

46664 |
|
Your career:
Executive Assistant
& Spokesperson: Nelson Mandela
Favourite charity’s name?:
46664
What do they do?
They teach people
about the prevention of HIV/Aids, especially the youth. There
may not be a cure for Aids yet but it CAN be prevented and
rather than seeing millions of people dying, why don’t we all do
something to try and prevent the disease from spreading. So much
money is being spent on ARVs and treatment, yet it can be
PREVENTED. 46664 has a industrial theatre production that tours
around the country to schools and institutions to teach young
people about the prevention of the disease. The actors are also
trained to be counselors to deal with any issues arising from
the presentation. The response from the young people has been
extraordinary and these actors have saved thousands of lives
thus far.
What do they need?
Money to train more
actors to reproduce the industrial theatre piece so that they
can tour schools faster and take the production also into
Africa. Every day counts! They also need vehicles to transport
actors, sponsorship for flights/transport/accommodation for the
actors etc.
Why
is this your charity?
Firstly, obviously because I also do work for the charity and it
was established by my boss. 46664 is wholly owned by the Nelson
Mandela Foundation. Secondly because I have seen many people
die of Aids, yet, it is something that can be prevented so
easily. It is a disease that doesn’t discriminate and because
you are white, doesn’t mean that you are immune. It could
happen to me any day, and to my family and friends and I am
therefore passionate to ensure that it doesn’t. It is a disease
that rids you from dignity and no human or living creature
deserves to die without dignity. You don’t need to go to the
doctor, travel far distances or go through much trouble to get
immunization for Aids. In fact, you cannot be immunized for Aids
right now. All you have to do is either use a condom, or
practice safe sex or abstain. How difficult can it then be to
make a difference in bringing down the prevalence rate? We can
make a difference and as Mr Mandela said during his 90th
birthday: “It is in your hands”. That included you and me!

A plea from Mandela:

|
A personal plea from Mr Rademan:
Please remember that charities like
SPCA, "Helpende Hand", Irene Homes, Hospice and MANY others will take ANYTHING you have to
offer. They will re sell most of
the stuff you donate, and if taking it to delivery points are
too much trouble, contact them, and they might just collect.
If you rather feel like selling your wardrobe, sell the whole
caboose for just R200 rand: This will buy breakfast for a hungry
child for ONE month! (Abraham Kriel children's home: 011 839
