On a
more personal note, I
have to add that the 2015 Miss SA competitions was not one of the best productions South
Africa has presented. It would be closer to the truth if I
dare mention that this was one of the worst productions I have
had to endure. This streak continued with the Miss World
Competition that was televised live on SABC3, and the Miss
Universe that was live streamed only. In the latter event,
the most embarrassing incident occurred for the entire world to
see: the crown was mistakenly awarded to Miss Colombia,
one minute later taken off her head and rightfully awarded to
Miss Philippines. I have also found over the years that SA never
competes well with their national costumes. It is
sometimes referred to as fantasy outfits, and should leave NO
stone unturned. Imaginations should soar. But.
It seems that it is not taken as serious as it should be.
Here's the national costumes from South Africa that was seen by
the world.

This is the second year that a new South
African crown (and
a very beautiful one I must add - and by some referred to as
"that" crown) have been designed for the
winner to wear during her year of reign. Read more about
it on the 2014 page -
and for more background,
The Style Bible has a great chapter on accessories and the
title "Miss South Africa" as the largest competition of its kind
in SA, so maybe the answer lies in there somewhere.
